A24dB/octave reduction is quite steep but typical of many active crossovers. If memory serves most AV receivers have a 12dB/octave slope. Most active subwoofers have a 12dB/octave slope at line level. But [usually] only a 6dB slope at speaker cable [high] level. An octave is a doubling [or halving] of frequency.
